Hot in Paris: Le Bon Marché Debuts a New Shoe Department

Le Bon Marche, Paris

To coincide with Paris Fashion Week, Le Bon Marché has debuted a new shoe department. The legendary Paris grand magasin ("department store") has long been a Left Bank institution, and the 2013 renovation of its food hall (La Grande Epicerie) was the talk of the town. To get tongues wagging about its latest renovation, the store commissioned award-winning photographer Martin Parr to capture the new space in images- which have been translated into a colorful advertising campaign all over Paris.

Shoes are displayed in four innovative spaces: the “winter garden”; the amphitheatre; under the glass-and-metal nave on the second floor; and the “Atelier” where workshops and events also take place. All the great luxury brands are represented, along with some cutting-edge young designers.

Take a break from shopping with a pick-me-up at the “Shoes Truck” (a playful nod to the “food trucks” that have taken Paris by storm in recent years). You’ll find “Bento Shoe Boxes” and pastries designed to look like the latest shoe fashions. The “Shoes Truck” is located on the ground floor of the department store at 24 rue de Sèvres in the 7th arrondissement.
