Hotel Buzz: New Angsana Hotel Debuts in Thailand

Angsana Laguna Phuket got a jump start on its New Year's resolution. We hear that the luxury property in Thailand opened its doors on December 1 sporting a hot, new look. That's what a cool $30 million renovation can do for you.

The hotel occupies the site of the former Sheraton Grande Laguna Phuket. The refreshed and restyled resort is the largest Angsana property in Southeast Asia with 409 rooms and suites. Tip: The 5,274-square-foot Angsana Grand Pool Residence is the largest accommodation with four bedrooms, a private kitchen, sun deck and outdoor pavilion.

Guests have a variety of dining options, from Market Place, the resort's all-day dining venue; Bodega & Grill, featuring steaks, fish and seafood; Baan Talay and Loy Krathong, serving sunset cocktails and Asian tapas; and Canal Bakery, which serves fresh baked pastries and fresh juices along with sandwiches and salads.

Still to come: XANA, the resort's beach club, will open on March 1, with sun lounges, daybeds and a fusion of Mediterranean and Thai cuisine.

Kids in tow will love the Treehouse Kids' Club, which is built over two stories and features a cafe along with activities such as arts and crafts and interactive story hour.

The new Angsana Spa offers 12 indoor treatment rooms, comprised of seven double and five single suites, each with shower facilities. The Spa also has a rain mist facility, steamer oom, sauna and beauty salon.
