Kempinski Hotel Berchtesgaden Opens in the Bavarian Alps

Kempinski Hotel Berchtesgaden, Germany

Kempinski is in the midst of an aggressive expansion strategy, with new hotels opening all over the world this year. In Germany’s Bavarian Alps, the Kempinski Hotel Berchtesgaden has debuted just south of Salzburg in a spectacular perch 1,000 meters high. Formerly managed by the InterContinental Hotels Group as the Berchtesgaden International Resort, the hotel has 138 rooms and suites designed in a contemporary style with sweeping views over the Alps.

A host of recreational activities make this a good destination for leisure travelers in both summer and winter seasons (think rafting, hiking, mountain biking and skiing). But the resort is also a business destination with an expansive conference area encompassing six conference rooms, an outside event space for up to 4,000 guests, plus a heliport for helicopter access.

There’s a destination spa where treatments showcase locally harvested alpine herbs, and La Prairie cosmetics for facials. There’s also a Kempinski Kids Club, and dining runs the gamut from Bavarian cuisine to international classics.
