Big news from the French Alps: A swanky hotel has opened in Val Thorens, the highest ski resort in Europe. (Linked to the famous Trois Vallées ski area, which is the largest ski domain on the planet, Val Thorens is 7500 feet in altitude.) The property’s evocative name will surely delight jetsetting ski bunnies. The hotel is named Koh-I Nor for the legendary 105.6 carat diamond in the Queen’s crown jewels.

Perched on the summit of the ski resort, Koh-I Nore is filled with natural light from a diamond-shaped glass structure. now the highest five-star hotel in Europe, the Koh-I Nor is decorated with noble materials in a rustic-chic style. The 63 rooms have impressive views over the snow-covered mountains from private balconies.
