Luxe Lift: Both Raffles in Cambodia Usher in Renovations

Two grande dames of Cambodia, the Raffles Hotel Le Royal Phnom Penh and Raffles Grand Hotel d'Angkor in Siem Reap, are ushering in the next wave of luxury.

We hear that both properties are currently undergoing refurbishments, which will be completed in November 2011. Among the updates include the transformation of the large garden villas in Siem Reap; the updating of the guest rooms at both hotels; and a refreshed lobby, bar and private rooms and ballroom in Phnom Penh.

At both hotels, the State Rooms will receive new wooden floors and fabrics, which will convey a romantic colonial feel. Keep in touch: Further rooms will be refurbished in 2012.

In Phnom Penh, two new Balcony Suites will be added overlooking the gardens.

The Lobby and Conservatory Bar are also being brough put to date with updated lighting and new furniture.

In Siem Reap, the two private villas in the hotel's garden will be refurbished and upgraded. Villa Uma will give off a contemporary colonial feel with a new plunge pool, decking, daybeds and landscaping. Meanwhile, Villa Kama will retain its traditional feel (think teak furniture, Khmer touches and rich carpets). The outside will receive an updated landscape scheme.
