Luxe Picnic in the Park with The Langham London

The Langham London, picnic basketA summer jaunt to London isn’t complete without a picnic in the park. Leave it to The Langham--the illustrious city landmark at the top of Regent Street--to pack the ultimate picnic hamper, chock full of treats from the hotel’s award-winning Afternoon Tea. (Palm Court’s tea was named the best in London 2010 by the Tea Guild.)

Here’s a peek inside that swoonworthy wicker basket. You'll find a selection of speciality sandwiches like poached Scottish salmon and cucumber, Coronation chicken, and cream cheese with piccalilli; home-baked scones with Champagne soaked raisins; and decadent pastries from Palm Court's Bijoux Tea, inspired by the collections of top jewellery designers on nearby Bond Street.

The basket comes with a rug, so visitors can go over to nearby Regent’s Park to take in a production at Regent's Park Open Air Theatre. (The outdoor theatre has four productions in the 2011 season which runs from May 19 to September 10.) The Palm Court Hamper may be purchased for £85 for two people, 72 hours notice is requested. The option of a half bottle of Billecart-Salmon Brut Reserve NV may be added for an extra £30 or a bottle of Laurent Perrier NV for an extra £70 per hamper.

The Langham has also put together a special package called "Picnic in the Park," priced from £399, which includes: overnight accommodation for two persons in a Grand Room; English breakfast in Roux at The Landau restaurant; The Palm Court hamper for two people with a half bottle of Billecart-Salmon Champagne; two tickets to a production at Regent's Park Open Air Theatre.
