Luxury Dining in Somalia?

Somalia's restaurant scene seems to be on the rise, the Associated Press is reporting--even going so far as to call it luxurious, and comparing it to South Beach or the Riviera.

Somali businessman Ahmed Jama recently returned to Somalia from London to open two Western-style restaurants in two hotels he owns, one on the beachfront and the other downtown Mogadishu. His beachfront property has "stylish" beach beds and flat-screen TVs.

It's been less than a year since the African Union drove al-Shabab militants from the city, but in that time, the article says, sports, art and good food have all returned.

Best of all, Jama's restaurants prepare meals in traditional Somali style. We're eager to hear if Mogadishu will become the Hot New Destination of 2013.
