Melia Hotels International Opens Two New Resorts in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico

Melia Hotels International has expanded its Paradisus resort brand with two new properties in Mexico, Paradisus Playa del Carmen La Esmeralda and Paradisus Playa del Carmen La Perla.

The first adults-only resort, Paradisus La Perla, offers 394 suites, including 120 Royal Service Suites and two Royal Service Presidential Suites. The amenities in the Royal Service area, include a private pool, restaurant and bar, a private beach, and butlers who make preferential reservations for special activities and treatments. Guests can also find further privacy with one of the 60 swim-up suites, with access to the free-form pool.

The Paradisus La Esmeralda provides 512 luxury suites, with 56 swim-up suites, 122 Family Concierge suites, and two Presidential suites. The Family Concierge section of the resort provides a private family check-in and checkout, family activities, milk and cookie turn down services, an exclusive restaurant, as well as other amenities. Both resorts share a common area called El Zocalo, which includes: a YHI Spa and Health Club, with a full service beauty salon and various exercise programs, the “Palapa” Activities Center, a theatre, a ballroom, state-of-the-art meeting and convention space with 14 meeting rooms, Wi-Fi access, and access to 10 restaurants. Guests can also participate in such activities as golfing, bike tours and wine tastings.

The local environment was also taken into consideration when the resorts were built, including protecting the mangroves, working along the coastline and providing a boardwalk and amphitheatre for guests to enjoy the local surroundings.
