New Alexander's Cigar Lounge at Hotel Grande Bretagne, Athens

Grande Bretagne, Athens

Alexander's Bar has long been an Athens institution and favorite hotel bar among the international jetset. Decorated with an 18th century tapestry of Alexander the Great, the bar resembles a leather-lined gentlemen's club with a walk-in cigar humidor and menu featuring classic cocktails and premium brandies. The Hotel Grande Bretagne's latest addition is Alexander's Cigar Lounge, a destination for cigar and cognac afficionados. It's a new and elegant space for smokers, operating daily from 4 pm to midnight. Guests can also order light meals and snacks from the Alexander's Bar menu.

Greece's economic hardships are in the news a lot these days, but tourism is on the rise. In fact, The International Herald Tribune reports that the number of foreign visitors is at a record high-- up to 16.5 million this year. This is partly due to the enticing hotel and travel packages available- making it a great time to travel to Greece. The Grande Bretagne has a number of enticing packages available, including a new “Explore Athens” package which puts the best of the city (like the new Acropolis Museum) at travelers' fingertips.
