New in Peru: Inkaterra Hacienda Urubamba

Inkaterra Hacienda Urubamba

Inkaterra has made a name for itself as the eco-friendly hotel company behind some of the top luxury lodges in Peru. In fact, this Peruvian organization has worked for 39 years on sustainable tourism initiatives. The latest from Inkaterra is a Colonial-style property called Inkaterra Hacienda Urubamba, located in the Sacred Valley, one hour north of Cusco in the Andes mountains. This is a dreamy location for discovering some of the country’s finest Inca sites.

Designed with local materials, the hotel has 24 boutique casitas, and rooms come with all the contemporary creature comforts like Wi-Fi, heated towel racks, and plush towels and robes. The junior suites and suites are equipped with fireplaces and panoramic terraces. Activities run the gamut from horseback riding and bird watching to archeological excursions to guided mountain walks to learn about medicinal plants and astronomy.

A special bonus for foodies: The dining room uses organic ingredients harvested from the hotel’s on-site gardens.
