The recent gala opening for the Louis Vuitton Island Maison was a star-studded affair. Fashionable jetsetters flocked to get a peek inside the first island “maison” for the luxury brand. Housed in a glass and steel pavilion designed by Moshe Safdie as part of Marina Bay Sands, the Louis Vuitton Island Maison is accessed via boat, bridge, or tunnel. With nautically inspired interiors by award-winning architect Peter Marino, it’s a sexy retail space. But more than that, it’s destined to become a destination for art and culture. There’s also a bookstore on site with a curated library of volumes on design, travel, and art. And the outdoor deck, reminiscent of a luxury yacht, has great views.
