New York Buzz: Kevin Smith to Bring Clerks to Broadway?

It was only a matter of time before the View Askewniverse made it to Broadway: Playbill is reporting that filmmaker Kevin Smith, who shot to stardom with his directorial debut Clerks in 1994, may adapt his breakthrough movie for the stage.

Details are still scant, but Smith reportedly hopes to open a Clerks-themed play at the end of 2014, which will (coincidentally, of course) mark the 20th anniversary of the movie. The bittersweet comedy follows a day in the life of two convenience store workers as they ponder the meaning of life, love and rooftop hockey.

No word yet on a cast, director or theater, or if the play will even happen, but it's fun to daydream about who would star in the play…
