The Paris luxury hotel scene keeps getting hotter and hotter, and we’re eagerly anticipating the arrival of The Peninsula Hotels in 2014. The Hong Kong-based company has been busy transforming a century-old Beaux-Arts building on Avenue Kléber into its first luxury hotel in Europe. The latest news: Nicolas Beliard has been appointed General Manager of The Peninsula Paris, effective January 1, 2013. He will oversee the launch of the talked-about hotel.
Beliard currently manages The Peninsula Bangkok, and upon his departure, Katja Henke will be promoted to General Manager. A graduate of Princeton and Cornell, Beliard—a French citizen-- began his career in St. Tropez and has worked for numerous international luxury hotels including Four Seasons in New York, Paris, the Caribbean, and Geneva; The Waldorf Astoria and The Pierre hotels in New York; and the Mandarin Oriental in Miami.
