On March 1, the Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel made its debut in the Thai capital. The hotel is not new, but rather a reflagging of the former Four Seasons. (Meanwhile a new Four Seasons Hotel is expected to open in Bangkok in 2018, and it will be called the Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok at Chao Phraya River.)
The Thailand-based Anantara brand already operates three other luxury hotels in Bangkok. The latest one is located in the Ratchaprasong district, opposite the Royal Bangkok Sports Club and next to a sky train station. Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel bills itself as a “serene retreat away from the bustling city.”
There are 354 rooms and suites outfitted with teak furnishings, silk fabrics, and artifacts in a Thai design scheme that’s both traditional and contemporary. Some of the suites have spaces that can host dinner parties. Leisure facilities run the gamut from the 24-hour health club, squash court, and yoga studio to the Anantara spa and outdoor pool surrounded by lotus ponds and tropical gardens. There are 10 different dining options, and expansive meeting and event space.
