The landmark Santa Barbara hotel has been vacant for years, but now Orient-Express Hotels Ltd is bringing it back to life. After purchasing El Encanto in 2004, Orient-Express began a dramatic overhaul in 2006. The results of the multi-million dollar makeover will be visible in March 2013, when the hilltop hotel will show off its 92 California-style bungalows, spa, outdoor swimming pool, destination restaurant, and ballroom—all with sweeping views of the Pacific. The goal is to resurrect what was once a favorite hideaway for Hollywood celebs.
