Those who have been to Marrakech and want to head back for a new twist should put Park Hyatt’s new project on their bucket list. The Park Hyatt Marrakech Al Maaden is set to open in the fall of 2012, and we got a sneak peek on what it will look like.

The property will be a mixed-use hotel, residential and retail development within the Al Maaden Golf Resort. Rooms will have views of the golf course and the Atlas Mountains beyond, and will be grouped in clusters around shared courtyards or as two rooms and two suites sharing an interior courtyard with a reflecting pool—ideal for families or groups. Top Picks: Each of the 45 villas will have a living room, dining room, fireplace and pool. The larger guest room suites and villa suites will feature private garden environments with personal plunge or lap pools.

All interior spaces will open up to the exterior, blurring the boundaries between indoors and outdoors. We hear the main swimming pool area will have private cabanas with daybeds and views of the Atlas Mountains, while terraces with individual pools will be surrounded by hedges and tied together by a traditional Moroccan water channel. (Think of those narrow manmade streams that flow around the Alhambra in Spain.)

Tops for golfers: We hear that the 18-hole golf course will be created by award-winning golf course designer Kyle Phillips in the style of a classic Moroccan garden.

If your clients are headed to Morocco before next fall, they can stay in classic hotels like La Mamounia and the Villa des Orangers or more contemporary properties like the brand-new Four Seasons Hotel Marrakech and the Royal Mansour Marrakech (owned by King Mohammed VI).

No general manager or travel agent liaison had been announced as of press time, but keep an eye on for more details as the hotel takes shape.
