Park Hyatt Opens Beach Resort on China’s Hainan Island

From Chicago to Chennai, Park Hyatt’s rapidly expanding collection of luxury hotels spans the globe. The latest to join the group of 34 hotels is Park Hyatt Sanya Sunny Bay Resort, which opened last month in Hainan Island. Located in the south of China, the island is known as the “Hawaii of China,” luring large numbers of tourists to the fine sandy beaches.

This is Park Hyatt’s first beach resort project in China, and it was designed by award-winning architect Jean-Michel Gathy of Denniston International Architects & Planners. Just a few miles from popular Yalong Bay, Park Hyatt Sanya Sunny Bay Resort is positioned on an inlet next to Nan Hu Lake. Designed in a modernist style to resemble a private seaside mansion, the resort is comprised of six, arch-shaped buildings surrounded by lush gardens. The 207 rooms and suites have views of the South China Sea.
