Peabody Hotels will Expand Nationwide

Peabody Ducks

The Peabody Hotel has long been a landmark address in Memphis, famous for a whimsical attraction: the Peabody Ducks. “A time-honored tradition dating back to 1933,” the ducks march to the Grand Lobby daily at 11 am and 5 pm, across a red carpet, and into the marble fountain. Led by a designated Duckmaster, the ducks have seen their fair share of famous spectators (like Lisa Marie Presley, Justin Timberlake, Faith Hill and Tim McGraw).

They’re so well-loved, in fact, that duck is not served on the hotel restaurant menu, and they sleep in their own designated rooftop suite called the “Royal Duck Palace”—complete with a swimming pool and a duck sculpture.

The Peabody Hotel Memphis

News from Memphis: Soon the Peabody Ducks will be delighting guests across the country, as the hotel’s owner, Beltz Enterprises, has announced plans to create a nationwide brand. The newly-launched Peabody Hotels & Resorts will operate a collection of properties that will reflect the traditions and personality of the flagship hotel in Memphis. Of course, each of the independently-owned hotels will host their very own daily procession of Peabody Ducks. For more information, visit www.peabodymemphis.com.
