Rocco Forte's Verdura Resort Hosts European Tour- Sicilian Open

Verdura Resort in SicilyIn just a matter of days, Rocco Forte’s Verdura Golf & Spa Resort will host the European Tour- Sicilian Open 2012. Just after the resort opened in 2009, Luxury Travel Advisor flew to Sicily to check it out; the undulating, links-style golf courses have a beautiful setting on the Mediterranean sea. Designed by acclaimed golf architect Kyle Phillips, the 45 holes at Verdura are made up of two 18-hole, links-style golf courses and one 9-hole par 3 golf course. (Here’s our interview with the resort’s Director of Golf.) Over 140 professional golfers—including defending champion Raphael Jacquelin—will tee off on the resort’s championship courses in hopes of clinching the title, winning both coveted Ryder Cup points and points towards the "Race to Dubai" cash prize.

From March 29- April 1, 2012, the resort will welcome spectators to watch the tournament free of charge—whether they’re staying at the hotel or not. Verdura is also offering a special package for golf enthusiasts to experience the event. The “Sicilian Open Package” includes unlimited golf greens on the available holes, free access to spa facilities, buffet breakfast, and a complimentary upgrade—from 290 euros per night.
