Sandals to Break Ground on Over-the-Water Suites at Jamaica Resort in Roughly Two Weeks

Sandals Royal Caribbean Resort & Private Island in Montego Bay, Jamaica will soon be home to new over-the-water suites

As part of Luxury Travel Advisor's recent coverage of JAPEX (Jamaica Product Exchange) in Montego Bay, Jamaica, we sat down with Adam Stewart, CEO of Sandals Resorts International, and got the latest updates on plans to build five over-the-water suites at Sandals Royal Caribbean Resort & Private Island in Montego Bay.

"We are in a redesign. It won't affect when it will open. We are still on schedule but we just thought we were wasting so much space with the original design," says Stewart of the estimated $4 million project.

Groundbreaking is set to commence in roughly two weeks with completion slated for about nine months from now, Stewart says.

The original design was going to be identical to plans for over the water suites in St. Lucia, a project that has been temporarily halted. Stewart says the new design will include an outdoor sitting area with outdoor jacuzzis.
