Sip Cocktails in London's Speakeasy Joint

Blind Spot-Golden Hand

When traveling, there’s nothing better than finding a new, swanky drink spot. Blind Spot, inside the St. Martins Lane hotel in London’s theatre district, provides exactly that opportunity.

There’s a hidden entrance (look for the gold hand) that will lead you to this speakeasy-inspired bar, which is filled with leather chairs and small tables under dim lighting -- ideal for low conversations and solo travelers. Here, the cocktails are created by mixologist Andrew Loudon and pay homage to the ancient tea route that ran between Asia and Great Britain in the 1660s. We suggest sipping on the Camellia, which includes black tea infused Belvedere, Aperol, Chambered, raspberry, fresh lemon and sugar. Or for something with more of a kick, try the Flame Nettle Fizz made with Cabeza tequila, flame nettle & peppermint tea syrup, fresh lime and soda water.

An evening at Blind Spot isn’t complete without trying some of the small bites created by chef Tien Ho. He creates snacks inspired by British Colonial times. We like the sounds of the seared scallop and pineapple carpaccio or the crispy shiitake and smoky tofu spring rolls. These dishes would be ideal during cocktail hour before a show or as a late night indulgence. From Monday through Saturday this secret spot is open from 4:30 p.m. to 3 a.m., it closes at 12 a.m. on Sunday.
