From Val Thorens to Chamonix, skiers in France are prepping for the winter season with anticipation. Just in time for the holiday vacation, there are a number of exciting new hotels in the French Alps, and notable renovations. In Avoriaz in the Portes du Soleil ski area, for example, Sibuet Maisons and Hotels has taken over ownership of the Hotel des Dromonts. This is the 10th property in Sibuet’s collection, which is comprised of legendary hotels like Les Fermes de Marie in Megève, the Cour des Loges in Lyon, and the Domaine de la Baume in Provence.

Built in 1966, the four-star Hotel des Dromonts underwent a renovation to open for the season this December. The rooms are done up in a vintage 1960s style with pops of color, and the pretty bathrooms are designed in slate from a local quarry. With views over the snow-covered peaks, the suites have separate living rooms. The are dedicated Family Suite are perfect if you’re traveling with kids (the lounge is separated from the bedroom by a sliding door, and two children can sleep on the sofa bed).

The hotel now offers an outpost of Sibuet’s popular bistro concept, Les Enfants Terrible, and there is also a Pure Altitude Spa.
