SLS South Beach Preps for June Opening

We’ve been waiting with bated breath and now the debut of SLS South Beach—with interiors by Philippe Starck and a penthouse and bungalow suite designed by Lenny Kravitz—is just weeks away. Harper’s Bazaar says, “We want to live in it.” And HotelChatter is positively “psyched” about the upcoming opening. In an interview with sbe founder Sam Nazarian, HotelChatter got some details on the aesthetic: “The rooms are designed in a pattern which I believe is so unique, full of perspective—like all our canvases. And I think there is a lot of functionality. You’d think a high-designed hotel doesn’t have functionality but we have both.”

The Bungalow Suites—complete with their own personal poolside terraces—sound like the crème de la crème of accommodations. Not far from the action, but exclusive and quiet, the suites come with the SLS signature king size bed, a deep soaking tub, and all the latest technology. All the hotel’s rooms have large HD TVs, highspeed Wifi, iPads, and MP3 connectivity.

Here’s what else is on tap. For dining, grab a table at The Bazaar, the East Coast outpost of the famous restaurant by James Beard award-winning Chef José Andrés; or tuck into sushi and Japanese cuisine at Katsuya by Starck. The nighttime scene promises to kick things up a notch with Hyde Beach. Philippe Starck even designed the Salon, where you can get primped in style for a night on the town.

SLS South Beach is located in the thick of things at 1701 Collins Avenue. For more information, visit www.slshotels.com/southbeach.
