A new luxury hotel by Sofitel has arrived in China’s Southwest. The pleasant city of Kunming is known as the gateway to China’s beautiful Yunnan province, a sought-after travel destination that’s home to Dali, Lijiang, and the surrounding “Shangri-La” region. Officially touted as "the only international luxury hotel in Kunming city center,” the five-star Sofitel hotel debuted in December 2015 with 400 guestrooms including 42 suites.

The Sofitel Kunming occupies the 27th-52nd floors of a skyscraper in the Central Business District. Facilities include the So SPA by L’Occitane plus expansive meeting and event space featuring a grand ballroom that can accommodate 800. There are three restaurants and two bars, serving a mélange of Chinese, French and international dishes. Kwee Zeen restaurant has 360-degree views and live cooking stations, while Le Chinois Chinese Restaurant highlights authentic Yunnan, Cantonese and Sichuan cuisine.
