Sofitel Legend Santa Clara CartagenaHoused in a former convent dating from 1621, the Sofitel Santa Clara is one of the loveliest luxury hotels in the Latin American hot spot of Cartagena. (It was the setting of Gabriel Garcia Marquez’s “Of Love and Other Demons”.) The old city itself—a showcase of beautiful colonial architecture – was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1984. After a big renovation, Sofitel is relaunching the hotel as the Sofitel Legend Santa Clara Cartagena in spring 2013.

The “Legend” collection encompasses landmark historic properties and palaces around the globe, and includes Sofitel Legend Metropole in Hanoi,Vietnam; Sofitel Legend Old Cataract in Aswan, Egypt; and Sofitel The Grand in Amsterdam.
