In the Spotlight: The Hotel du Cap Eden-Roc on the French Riviera

Every May when the stars descend on Cannes for the world’s most glamorous film festival, the Hotel du Cap Eden-Roc hits the headlines. Easily one of the most exclusive hotels in the world, the Eden-Roc doesn’t need the publicity. This is where celebs come for r & r out of the limelight, and the hotel—a compound of villas sprawling across a peninsula—delivers. After a $70 million renovation project unveiled this spring, the Hotel du Cap Eden-Roc is dazzling the Côte d'Azur.

In the news: Karl Lagerfeld booked the entire property last week to present his Chanel Resort 2012 collection to the world’s top fashion editors and celebrities. As HotelChatter explains, the two-year renovation finished “just in time for Karl to properly turn the promenade into a runway and re-introduce the Hotel du Cap to the world. The collection, meanwhile, was all society and old money; lemon skirt suits began a show inspired by the style of Rita Hayworth and Aly Khan; it included 5-star-appropriate bathing suits, relaxed navy crepe dresses and dramatic, flowing evening wear.”

And even more celebrity sightings: Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt checked into a private villa at the Hotel du Cap Eden-Roc, with their entire brood in tow, while attending the Cannes Film Festival.
