Summer in Madrid: The Veranos de la Villa Festival

Madrid, Veranos de la VillaSpain is celebrating their triumphant victory in the Euro2012 Championship, and revelers in the capital can coincide their merry-making with the annual Veranos de la Villa. Running until September 2, the summer festival brings top talent (like Emir Kusturica and the Buena Vista Social Club) to perform in the city’s iconic venues, including Teatro Circo Price, the Sabatini Gardens, Matadero Madrid, Conde Duque and Plaza Mayor.

In fact, the city of Madrid turns into a stage with hundreds of open-air cultural events—from music concerts and theatre to cinema and dance. Many of these events are free. Flamenco singers Miguel Poveda, Pitingo, Diego El Cigala and Estrella Morente promise to give dazzling performances. From July 13- August 11, the Veranos de la Villa will also host the Madrid Fringe Festival for the first time.
