Teatime is an institution in the UK, but now Rome seems to be getting in on the action. The Hotel Hassler Roma, right at the top of the Spanish Steps, has just launched a unique Afternoon Tea service in its Salone Eva. Served every afternoon from 3pm to 7pm, it features a wide variety of fresh, organic teas and home-made pastries.
Guests can watch the Salone Eva's Maitre prepare the tea, which includes the use of a silver samovar, porcelain teapot and an hourglass that indicates the optimal soaking time. Varieties of tea include mango, white tea with Tulsi, green tea with rosebuds, and Rooibos, plum, lemon and ginger.
Pricing for the tasting selection is $35.50; à la carte teas served with home-made biscuits and pastries start at $15.85.
