Thanda Island Opens off the Coast of Tanzania

Thanda Island

A new private island is accepting reservations in a private marine reserve off the coast of Tanzania in the Indian Ocean. Accessible by boat or helicopter, Thanda Island is billed as “one of the world’s most exclusive island getaways.” Close to 20 acres in size, the island is home to a luxury villa designed by Swedish owners Christin and Dan Olofsson. Think Steinway piano, indoor aquarium, wine collection, cigar humidor, pool and wrap-around dining area overlooking the ocean. Outside, there’s a BBQ, cocktail bar, and pizza oven.

The villa has five suites opening directly onto the beach, and two traditional “'Bandas” offer additional accommodation. In terms of recreational activities, the sky’s the limit: sailing, fishing, beach volleyball, tennis, snorkeling, and more.

Thanda Island

Thanda Island is available exclusively for privatization at a rate of $10,000 per night, with a seven-night minimum stay in high season, including all meals and drinks, recreational activities, and return boat transfers from Mafia Island. There is a dedicated staff for the duration of your stay, including a personal chef, housekeeper, hostess and boatman.

Thanda also offers luxurious lodges and safari experiences in South Africa.
