Since Donald Trump snapped up Miami’s Doral resort last year, he’s planned to pour $250 million into its renovation. Part of that makeover—as recently announced—is the addition of a BLT Prime restaurant in February 2014. Trump has teamed up with ESquared Hospitality, which runs the popular BLT Steak restaurants globally, including one at Trump’s Waikiki property.
Designer Peter Niemitz of Boston-based Niemitz Design Group is expanding the restaurant to include a main dining room, two private dining rooms, and a large veranda facing the golf course. A circular bar will serve as the restaurant’s centerpiece. On the menu? BLT classics like 28-day dry-aged N.Y. Strip and tuna tartar.
In overhauling the resort, Trump aims to restore its “vintage Florida glamour.” The golf courses will be rebuilt, the pools and spa will be redesigned, meeting spaces will get technology upgrades, and accommodations will get a complete makeover with Spanish revival details and vintage artwork of golf legends.
