Me by Meliá Dubai- Architect Zaha Hadid’s First Hotel

Opus, Dubai by Zaha Hadid

On a quest for global expansion, the Me by Meliá hotel brand is getting lots of press love these days. After the sexy London property and the soon-to-open Vienna landmark, Me by Meliá will make a splash in Dubai. What’s so extraordinary about this new UAE property is that it will be the first hotel completely designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Zaha Hadid.

The Iraq-born, London-based architect conceived the cube-shaped Opus Building, in which the hotel will be housed, and she’s also designing the rooms and public spaces. Explains The Telegraph in a recent article: “Renderings of the hotel interiors show that rooms will keep the curved lines and sinuous sweeps that are a hallmark of Hadid’s work.” The Me by Meliá Dubai will have 100 guest rooms, Michelin-starred restaurants and a concierge called an “Aura Manager.” But hold onto your hats. The hotel won’t open until 2016. For more information, visit www.me-by-melia.com
