Developed in partnership with boutique developers Harpreet and Satinder Garcha, The Duxton Club, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Singapore, will reflect the island’s expansive history with the inclusion of redesigns of traditional shophouses and prevalent buildings in Singapore’s architectural heritage. Redesigns from Anouska Hempel and Jacques Garcia, will offer guests a contemporary luxury experience while including Singapore’s indigenous roots in an authentic way.
The multi-million dollar property will reside in two pre-war colonial shophouse buildings, both within walking distance from each other. The Duxton House, to be located on Duxton Road, and The Duxton Terrace, located on Murray Street, are both strategically located in the Duxton area, adjacent to the Central Business District of Tanjong Pagar and the Chinatown area.
The Duxton House, originally constructed in the early 19th century, comprises 50 guestrooms among eight adjoining three-story buildings that have been reimagined by Hempel, whose interior design works can be found in the Hempel Hotel and Blakes Hotel in London, as well as stores like Van Cleef and Arpels and Louis Vuitton. Once completed, the hotel will include a restaurant, signature bar and private cigar room, all designed and decorated to restore and honor the property’s unique heritage of luxury and glamour.
The Duxton Terrace, containing fourteen adjoining three and four-story colonial era buildings has138 guest rooms and offers access to establishments like Tras Street and Club Street. Since its original completion in 1929, the building’s most recent renovation received the Architectural Heritage Award from the Urban Development Authority, solidifying the building as a historic landmark. Redesigned by Garcia, whose restoration works include The Louvre and The Palace of Versailles, will house five food and beverage venues, including a signature bar and lobby bar, as well as an all-day dining restaurant, a poolside bar and an exclusive members club.
Additional facilities of The Duxton Terrace will include an outdoor swimming pool, fitness center and cigar room. Guests of The Duxton Club will have access and full use of the facilities at both The Duxton House and The Duxton Terrace locations.
With The Duxton House slated to open in early 2017, The Duxton Terrace has an opening date set for July 2017.
