Emerald Waterways has announced its new Emerald Active excursions program, which gives guests the option to engage in more physical pursuits, such as guided bike tours and hiking, on six of the line’s most popular European itineraries.

Examples include hikes in Germany’s Black Forest during the eight-day Jewels of the Rhine sailing from Amsterdam to Basel, Switzerland, and to Wertheim Castle near Miltenberg, Germany on the 15-day Splendours of Europe sailing. Cycling enthusiasts can enjoy a guided bike tour of the Austrian city of Melk - home to the famed Abby - on the eight-day Danube Delights sailing from Nuremberg to Budapest, or a more urban biking experience around the Serbian capital of Belgrade during the 10-day Enchantment of Eastern Europe cruise. All Emerald Active excursions are offered to guests at no additional charge.

Emerald Waterways’ cruise fares include all transfers to and from the ship; most onboard (and some on-shore) meals; unlimited tea and coffee; wine, beer and soft drinks with lunch and dinner; bottled water in the cabins replenished daily; continental breakfast, pre-dinner canapés and after-dinner sweet treats served in the top suites; complimentary Wi-Fi onboard the ship, most shore excursions; as well as all gratuities on and off the ship.
