InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has signed its third InterContinental property for London: InterContinental London The O2.
The new hotel is scheduled to open in 2015 when it will take its place alongside its sister properties InterContinental London Westminster and InterContinental London Park Lane.
The 452-room InterContinental London The O2 will operate under a franchise agreement with Meridian Hotel Operations Limited and will be managed by Arora Hotels.
The hotel will include a health spa, restaurants, a club lounge, main bar and a sky bar with views over Canary Wharf and the River Thames. InterContinental London The O2 will also attract valuable meetings, events and conferences to London with its 3000m2 open-plan hotel ballroom.
The new hotel is located on the Greenwich Peninsula, near The O2 Arena. The arena hosts nearly 200 events annually, attracting approximately 7.5 million visitors. The hotel will be six miles from London City Airport and 400 metres from North Greenwich tube station. It is also has good road access to the Blackwall Tunnel and is well connected to the Emirates Airline Cable Car which links the Greenwich Peninsula to the ExCel Exhibition Centre.
InterContinental London The O2 is the 53rd hotel in the pipeline for the InterContinental hotel brand and will be added to the brand’s global portfolio of 170 InterContinental hotels across the world.
