First Look: India's First Ritz-Carlton Opens in Bangalore

There's a new reason to head to India, where the first Ritz-Carlton in the country has opened in Bangalore

Why is this hotel a big deal? Bangalore is India’s third largest city and is popularly known as the Silicon Valley of India. A full 400 of the Top Fortune 500 companies have offices here, and is the fastest growing major metropolis in India.

The hotel has plenty to recommend it, too, with a Jaali (lattice screen) design from the Mughal era and many architectural and interior design elements like pointed archways and lots of white marble. (Art fans are in luck: The Ritz-Carlton has more than 1,280 pieces throughout the building—reportedly the largest collection inside a hotel.)

Wining and Dining

Foodies will be able to choose from seven fine dining restaurants and lounges that will be run by Michelin-starred chef Anupam Banerjee. The hotel will also have a Ritz-Carlton Club Lounge, the first managed Ritz-Carlton Spa by ESPA in Bangalore, a Rossano Ferretti salon, and the city’s largest no-pillar ballroom.

The Lantern will serve dim sum and cuisine from different provinces of China. The Market all-day dining room is Bangalore’s only culinary theatre and includes a unique wine room and private dining spaces for guests. The signature fine dining restaurant Riwaz serves dishes from India’s North West Frontier.

The city’s highest rooftop bar and sky lounge, Bang, has panoramic views of Bangalore...as well as cocktails and Jaali-inspired dishes. Guests can relax over afternoon tea or cocktails in the Lobby Lounge, and The Ritz-Carlton Bar reportedly has the widest selection of cocktails and fine wines in the city.

The ballroom, meanwhile, covers 600 square meters, and smaller gatherings can be held in the boardroom or three function rooms.

Then there's the Ritz-Carlton Spa by ESPA, which includes native Ayurvedic treatments. There's also an outdoor swimming pool with poolside lounge and bar. (Good to know: Guests can unwind in private cabanas with daybeds and cocoons if they want some privacy outdoors.)
