This June, Costa Rei (east of Cagliari in the south of Sardinia) will get a new beachfront hotel. La Villa del Re is an exclusive, secluded five-star hotel located within a protected area.
This is a good pick for people who want to unwind on a private beach far from the madding crowds--we hear that this is one of very few new hotels in Europe to open right opposite the sea. All rooms look out over the ocean, as does the infinity pool.
La Villa del Re has 65 rooms covering Superior, Deluxe and Junior Suite categories. Those on the ground floor have a private garden and patio, while those on the first floor have a balcony. Each one is equipped with a bathtub or shower cabinet for "color therapy."
The hotel's restaurant has an outdoor area for alfresco dining and focuses on Mediterranean cuisine, especially Sardinian dishes.
