Five Rooftop Bars to Explore This Summer

Looking for some prime rooftop views this summer? Design Hotels shared a few selections from their collection around the world--here are a few worthwhile picks!

The Thief, Oslo, Norway

We hear this hotel's rooftop has some of the best views of the Oslo skyline, as well as the fjord, the hills and the Akershus Fortress. While gazing, relax with champagne cocktails and a bar menu of light dishes. Saturdays are especially festive with a live DJ playing for Osloites and visitors alike.

The Thief

Hotel Lamée, Vienna, Austria

Touted as the new hotspot in Vienna, this rooftop terrace is the crown of the 32-room property. Visitors here can look out over the spires and ornate roof of St. Stephen’s Cathedral, cocktail in hand. Tip: The venue hosts both private and public functions that can include wedding receptions, full moon parties and all-day weekend breakfasts.

Hotel Lamee

The Vine, Madeira, Portugal

The Vine is capped by the gourmet rooftop restaurant Uva and Bar 360°, so-called because of its views. It also has a year-round heated infinity pool and an oversized Jacuzzi. With daily happy hours, and an events calendar with everything from salsa dancing, live jazz, to the upcoming firework festival in June, this venue seems like a great place to unwind.

The Vine

Brown TLV, Tel Aviv, Israel

The rooftop of this 30-room hotel has sun loungers and casual seating areas, while a closed canvas cabana surrounded by foliage offers restorative spa treatments. What we love: twice-daily complimentary rounds of cava and the sunset bar.

Brown TLV

Hôtel Americano, New York

The 10th floor terrace and pool ‘La Piscine’ at this Manhattan boutique hotel offers a menu of Mediterannean cuisine and a pool. Live DJs keep the toes tapping.
