Travelers to Burgundy revel in the world-famous wine region all year round, but fall is a particularly fabulous time as the Hospices de Beaune Charity Wine Auction takes place—along with much feasting and merrymaking in the streets of Beaune. This year’s auction raised a record-breaking 480,000 euros, which was donated to three different charities. The place to stay in Beaune is Hotel Le Cep, a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World.
Housed in a number of 16th century mansions, the hotel is an atmospheric address with an abundance of historic period details. Hotel Le Cep is also known for its top-notch dining experience at the adjacent Loiseau des Vignes (the restaurant is part of Bernard Loiseau’s portfolio).
Recently Hotel Le Cep unveiled a jewel of a new spa. Open every day from 8 am-8 pm, the Marie de Bourgogne Spa has already welcomed celebrities like Oscar-winning actor Jean Dujardin (he’s pictured on the hotel's Facebook page). The spa is not only reserved for hotel guests, but is also open to outside clientele upon appointment.
