Buzz in Paris: Architect Zaha Hadid at the Institut du Monde Arabe

Chanel Mobile Pavilion by Zaha Hadid

Her work can be found in all corners of the globe- from the new Guangzhou Opera House to the futuristic MAXXI Museum in Rome. Zaha Hadid, the Iraq-born, London-based architect who's won the prestigious Pritzker Prize, is a darling of the press (and the countless architecture fans who flock to see her buildings). Luxury Travel Advisor got a sneak peek at one of her latest projects, the Riverside Museum in Glasgow, slated to open on June 21, and left inspired by the starchitect's vision for Scotland's Museum of Transport and Travel. A cavernous space, calling to mind the industrial warehouses that first brought Glasgow fame and riches as a shipbuilding capital, provides a cutting-edge prism for looking at the history of transport.

The buzz in Paris this week is Friday's opening of “Zaha Hadid, Une Architecture”- the first exhibition to be held inside the Mobile Art pavilion she designed now situated in front of the Institut du Monde Arabe. Created for Chanel, the Mobile Art pavilion has traveled around the world, showcasing contemporary art in major cities. Now it has come to rest in front of Jean Nouvel's Institut du Monde Arabe, where it will allow viewers to experience Hadid's work on three different levels: touring the Mobile Art pavilion itself (building), experiencing the exhibition design (scenography) and seeing the international work of her architectural practice (exhibits). Running until October 30. A must for architecture buffs.
