Joël Robuchon to Open New Restaurant in Bordeaux

Bernard Magrez and Joel Robuchon

Big news out of Bordeaux. Joël Robuchon, the acclaimed chef awarded 25 Michelin stars in restaurants around the globe, will soon open a new Atelier in town. A native of the nearby Poitou-Charentes region, Robuchon is having a homecoming of sorts in teaming up with local businessman Bernard Magrez (owner of Château Pape Clément vineyards) on the project.

Slated to open in July 2014, the 50-cover restaurant will be housed in a historic hôtel particulier on rue de Tivoli. L'Hôtel de Bernard Magrez will also comprise six luxury suites and a more casual lounge along with Robuchon’s gastronomic restaurant. The focus at l’Atelier will be on local cuisine made with the region’s rich bounty of products. “Bordeaux deserves a three-starred restaurant!" Robuchon told L'Express.

The Bordeaux resto is part of the rapid expansion of Robuchon’s restaurant empire, which includes new Ateliers in Bangkok (opening Summer 2014) and Bombay (a vegetarian establishment scheduled to open at the end of the year). For more information, visit www.joel-robuchon.com
