New Paris Hotel: W Paris – Opéra Design Concept Debuts

Rockwell Group Europe (RGe) reports that the design for the new W Paris – Opéra hotel will bring a touch of New York influence to the City of Light. The new property will be the product of a joint design project between RGe and W Global Brand Design.

In an 1870s Haussman-era heritage building across the street from the Opéra Garnier, the design revolves around a backlit digital undulating wall in the central core of the building that weaves through the public and private areas of the property. Dotted patterns will form abstract clouds, set at various tempos to match the mood of the changing seasons, events, time of day and location within the hotel. Historic features of the building, including ornamented columns, vaulted ceilings, marble staircases, stained glass windows and mosaic flooring and fireplaces have been restored and juxtaposed with the design’s more contemporary elements.

The hotel will include 91 guestrooms, including 20 suites and two Extreme WOW Suites, which W described as an “interpretation of the Presidential Suite."

Diego Gronda, managing and creative director of RGe, said, “For the first W Hotel in Paris, we wanted to provide guests with an unforgettable experience of the light and sophistication present all over this amazing city. Our design feeds off the elegance, richness and radiance of Paris, ‘La Ville Lumière,’ while layering in the contemporary cool and free-spirited energy of New York.”

RGe is the Madrid office of New York-based Rockwell Group, which has designed the 81st and 82nd Annual Academy Awards in Los Angeles, the Juana Manso complex in Buenos Aires and the Wasabi by Morimoto restaurant in Mumbai.
