News from Paris: Four Seasons Hotel George V Renovates its Guest Rooms

Here in Paris, New Year’s Eve started off right. We stopped by the Four Seasons George V Paris to learn the hotel’s news while sipping Earl Grey and nibbling on delicious tea-time treats. The awesome floral arrangement that’s normally on display in the lobby had been replaced by sparkling pieces from the Swarovski Crystal Palace Collection for the festive season. (Artistic director Jeff Leatham is somewhat of a celebrity in the design and flower world; he recently worked on Chelsea Clinton’s wedding.)

The big news: The hotel has begun a soft renovation project by acclaimed designer Pierre-Yves Rochon to refresh all the guest rooms. This 20 million euro project will update all 245 rooms with new fabrics, furniture, and technology, including TVs embedded in the bathroom mirrors. The rooms will continue to embody the 18th century style and spirit for which the George V is known.

The project has already begun, and is anticipated to take two years, without disrupting hotel guests as it’s a quiet redesign. We returned in February to look at the three new guest rooms and snapped these photos of rooms no. 112, 114, and 116. We liked the new libraries and well-organized closet space. Nice touch: All rooms will have Nespresso coffee machines, a big perk for coffee-addicted American guests!
