Gansevoort Park Avenue Debuts Rooftop Makeover

Gansevoort Park Avenue in New York City has made some significant upgrades to its all-seasons rooftop.

The refresh by Chris Kofitsas of New World Design Builders, the creative team behind Toro and ABC Kitchen, aims for a less formal aesthetic with a variety of alternative workspaces for daytime enjoyment, intended for guests and locals alike. The space will also have new beverage offerings in partnership with Miami’s Panther Coffee and New York’s Juice Press.

The update encompasses the overall design aesthetic, décor, furniture, artwork and floor plan, to move the area from a hard-edged urban feel to a warmer, more inviting atmosphere with a new color palette and natural elements.

The Pool Bar now has royal blue leather and chesterfield-style tufted couches, plus custom wood and glass tables and a metal wall draped with greenery to divide the space. Reclaimed wood ceiling beams and Edison bulb cord lights strung from the ceiling over large hay spreaders with nautical rope complete the area. Outside, the swimming pool deck and upper level Sundeck space now have reupholstered seating and natural wood elements.

The Ivy Lounge, previously known as the Blue Room, has added custom-made crank tables complemented by chevron-patterned banquettes with charcoal gray seats and reclaimed wooden ceiling beams. The seating arrangement transforms to accommodate a variety of functions. The tri-level penthouse has also been updated to mesh with guest devices, providing charging stations, including USB ports, and free Wi-Fi.

Gansevoort has partnered with Panther Coffee, specializing in small-batch roasting and cold brews, to offer its signature beverage menu featuring Nicaraguan coffee and East Coast espresso blend, among other beans sourced from around the world.

Hotel staff will receive Panther’s exclusive barista training to serve brewed-to-order specialties like the Cortado, Macchiato, and Cold Brew Latte.

The Rooftop will also offer cocktails made with organic, cold-pressed juices, in partnership with New York’s Juice Press, the city’s leading cold-pressed juice, raw food and smoothie retailer. Each handcrafted cocktail will be made fresh daily with Juice Press’ signature blends like the Ginger Fireball and 14 Hours.
