The Chedi Muscat in Oman, a member of General Hotel Management Ltd. (GHM), has announced the appointment of Morton Johnston as its new general manager.
Johnston was originally employed at The Chedi Muscat in 2004 as rooms division manager. Within two years, he was promoted to executive assistant manager, and in 2007, GHM named Johnston the general manager of a sister property in Korea. He most recently worked at The Regent Taipei as general manager from 2013 to 2015.
“With Morton, we have the best of both worlds,” said York Brandes, GHM’s vice president of operations and previous general manager of The Chedi Muscat. “Someone who already has a relationship with partners, guests and staff, and someone who, at the same time, will breathe all kinds of new life into the resort with his arrival.”
Set on 21 acres, the contemporary hotel mixes Omani architecture with Asian influences, and has six restaurants and three swimming pools.
