Gleneagles Expands Refurbishment

The Gleneagles Hotel in Scotland has continued its ongoing renovation program with a £1.1 million refurbishment of its bedrooms.

Scottish designers Greyline, who were responsible for the redesign of the hotel’s 36 rooms in 2014, will refresh and redesign an additional 36 of the 232 bedrooms in the first quarter of 2015. Improvements will include bespoke carpets from Wilton Carpets; a collection of soft furnishings and wall coverings from companies including Osborne & Little and Harlequin; and Heathfield designer light fittings. All 36 bedrooms will also receive new air conditioning systems.

The color palette for the redesign is meant to evoke the heather and lichen greens of the Scottish countryside surrounding the resort, said Greylines Designer Gavin Liddle.

This announcement follows the news of Gleneagles’ plan to launch a new 26,910 square foot conference venue and tennis center, The Gleneagles Arena, this spring.  It marks the second major project the resort has undertaken since it hosted The Ryder Cup in September 2014.

The refurbishment project is scheduled for completion by the end of April, in time for the start of the golfing season.
