Greaves Tours and Como Hotels Offer 2015 Bhutan International Marathon Itinerary (SLIDESHOW)

Calling all marathon runners: Greaves Tours and Como Hotels are offering a new travel itinerary to help runners get prepared and excited for next year’s Bhutan marathon.

The nine-day trip focuses on acclimating runners to the elevation (the race starts at an elevation of 6,700 feet), but the trip also gives visitors the chance to experience the culture of Bhutan. On day two guests will do a 12-mile run to the village of Dobshaptoe to visit a unique orange tree that bears fruit year-round. Runners will also prepare for the race with various yoga and stretching routines. On day six the marathon takes place. The course winds through the rural Punakha Valley, finishing at the city of Punakha Dzong.

After the marathon the following days will be spent visiting temples, monasteries and hiking through the pine forests above Uma Paro.

The Uma Adventure Marathon Experience: A Stay at Uma by COMO includes pre-race preparation activities, COMO Shambhala massage treatments and a celebration at Bhukari restaurant.

Package options start from $9,997.
