The Gwen, a Luxury Collection Hotel in Chicago is set to debut a new lobby, restaurant and lounge concept, and rooftop terrace on May 16.

Housed in the historic McGraw-Hill building, the hotel is the newest member of Starwood’s Luxury Collection. The new rooftop terrace, Upstairs at The Gwen, will boast views of the downtown and fire features to keep guests warm. The terrace will serve a curated house cocktail list celebrating 1930s cocktail culture, snacks and small plates from the new lounge, and “Social Sips” selections — think frozen prosecco “Poptails,” Prohibition Punch for up to six, and a Bubble Bucket filled with splits to share.

Circa is the hotel’s new restaurant and lounge. Helmed by Executive Chef Oscar Hernandez, Circa will also serve 30s-inspired cocktails, plus American cuisine with an eclectic twist.

On the fifth floor, the newly refreshed lobby will have an Art Deco-inspired design with contemporary touches, plus a curated art and sculpture program.

The McGraw-Hill building was built in 1928, and although it was rebuilt in 2000, it still retains its original Art Deco façade. Four of the historically landmarked panels are on display on the first floor of The Shops at North Bridge, close to The Gwen.
