Mystic, Connecticut’s luxury hotel, Spicer Mansion, has just announced its induction into the prestigious Relais & Châteaux collection of luxury hotels and fine dining restaurants, becoming the only hotel within the United States to be added to the collection for 2017.

Relais & Châteaux is an exclusive collection of more than 540 of the finest charming hotels and gourmet restaurants, managed by a family of independent owners, innkeepers and chefs who have been setting the world standard of excellence in hospitality since 1954.

“We are humbled to receive this accolade, just four months following the property’s opening,” said Daniel A. Hostettler, President and Group Managing Director of Ocean House Management, LLC. “This distinction affords Spicer Mansion the opportunity to showcase our amenities to a global audience, including placing our restaurant among the best in the world, and to put Mystic on the map as an upscale, high-end destination.”

Originally built in 1853, Spicer Mansion was purchased by renowned sea caption and benefactor Elihu Spicer Jr. Today, the property has been carefully restored by the Gates family of Stonington, Conencticut, under the direction of Ocean House Management, LLC.

The historic mansion reemerged this May as an exclusive and intimate luxury inn on the East Coast, just minutes from the maritime seaport of Mystic, Connecticut. The hotel boasts eight luxuriously appointed guest accommodations and a fine dining restaurant.

The Restaurant at Spicer Mansion offers a six-course tasting menu showcasing local seasonal ingredients and creative touches from Executive Chef Jennifer Backman. A partnership with BMW offers guests of the Mansion a chauffer-driven BMW 750i as part of the BMW Test Drive Program. Guests can explore Mystic on their own behind the wheel of the hotel’s second BMW 7 series house car.

Guests of Spicer Mansion also have full signing privileges at its beachfront sister properties, the Ocean House and Weekapaug Inn, both just 20 minutes away. In addition to the Forbes five-star OH! Spa complex, the Ocean House offers guests 950 feet of private beach front complete with private cabanas, squash courts, a state-of-the-art culinary education center and an array of restaurants and bars, including the Forbes five-star restaurant Seasons.
