Travelers headed to Geneva next year will have a new getaway option to keep in mind: the Hotel de la Paix has signed an agreement to become a Ritz-Carlton Partner Hotel, and the property will reopen in 2016 as The Ritz Carlton, Hotel de la Paix Geneva following a major renovation project. The refresh will reduce the number of guestrooms to 75.
History buffs take note: Since the hotel was built in 1865, it has played host to numerous world events, including the international arbitration tribunal for the Alabama Claims in 1872. Guests today can visit the Alabama Salon, which commemorates the event. Notable past guests have included Princess Grace Kelly of Monaco.
