Hotel Matilda in Mexico's colonial San Miguel de Allende is stepping up its game at Bar Matilda. They have brought in mixology star Alberto "Riesler" Morales Perez to the stage to serve as bar manager for the hotel.
Upon arrival he got the creative juices flowing and mixed up a signature drink, Handu (think vodka infused with cactus, scented with lavender, with Otomies citrus and Perrier.
Perez is planning to bring a "Classic Mexican" menu that will tap rituals of Mexican culture to create new cocktails. Bar Matilda will also develop many of its own ingredients, from mixers and syrups to bitters. It will offer mixology clinics, cocktail contests and tasting events, as well as invite guest bartenders.
